Paducah, Kentucky – Strong thunderstorms could rattle Paducah and nearby regions starting Tuesday afternoon, bringing damaging winds, heavy rain, and a risk of localized flooding through Thursday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, severe storms are likely across the Quad State area — including southern Illinois, western Kentucky, southwest Indiana, and southeast Missouri — beginning Tuesday and continuing into Thursday. Spotter activation may be needed during both days as conditions worsen, especially during the evening hours.
Cities like Paducah, Cape Girardeau, Evansville, and Marion could experience wind gusts over 40 mph, frequent lightning, and brief heavy downpours. Localized flash flooding is possible along low-lying roads and poor-drainage areas. Drivers along I-24 and US-60 are urged to stay alert for water-covered roadways and sudden lane closures. Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items, charge devices, and have multiple ways to receive warnings.
This storm system follows a quieter weekend but marks one of the more active severe weather threats of the spring so far. Thunderstorm chances will persist into Thursday, with another round possible Thursday night before calmer conditions return Friday.
Warnings and weather updates remain in effect through late Thursday across the region.
