Lexington, KY – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect across central and southern Kentucky until 10 PM EDT Friday, April 4, 2025, impacting approximately 1.3 million people. The National Weather Service has issued the watch for areas south and west of the KY Mountain Parkway, including major cities like Elizabethtown, Richmond, London, and Bowling Green.

According to the National Weather Service, residents can expect scattered hail up to 2 inches in diameter, along with wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph. Frequent lightning is also possible throughout the evening. This weather event could disrupt travel and cause localized damage, including downed trees and power lines.

Local schools and hospitals in the region, numbering 563 and 46 respectively, may also experience disruptions due to the storm’s impact.
