Williamsburg, Ky. – A Whitley County man was arrested after an undercover investigation allegedly uncovered child sexual exploitation material being shared online.

According to Kentucky State Police, Nathaniel Griffin, 20, was taken into custody on Friday, Aug. 29, following an investigation by the agency’s Electronic Crime Branch. Detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force allegedly found Griffin distributing material involving minors.

Investigators executed a search at Griffin’s Williamsburg residence the same day, seizing electronic equipment that was sent to the KSP forensic laboratory for further examination. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.

Griffin is charged with one count of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under the age of 12 and two counts of procuring or promoting a minor through electronic means. Authorities said the charges are Class-C felonies, carrying penalties of five to 10 years in prison if convicted. He is being held at the Whitley County Detention Center.

The ICAC Task Force, led in Kentucky by the State Police and supported by more than two dozen local, state, and federal agencies, works to combat online crimes against children. The program was created by the U.S. Department of Justice to address the growing risk of predators targeting minors online and the spread of child sexual abuse material.

Officials emphasized that efforts like this investigation highlight the need for vigilance as children spend increasing amounts of time on the internet. The program also provides education and prevention resources to help families and communities reduce risks tied to online exploitation.
