Kentucky — Wind sweeps across the Ohio River bridges this morning as brief snow bursts race through the Louisville area. Drivers may encounter sudden visibility drops and quick slick spots as snow squalls move through the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, scattered snow showers and snow squalls may continue through the day across central Kentucky and southern Indiana. Localized bands could produce around 1 inch of snow in short bursts. At the same time, west winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are pushing across the region under a Wind Advisory through early morning.
These quick snow bursts can change road conditions within minutes. Visibility may drop rapidly along I-64, I-65, and I-71, especially during heavier squalls. Wet pavement can briefly turn slushy or icy when temperatures hover near freezing.
Drivers should slow down and increase following distance if snow suddenly intensifies. Gusty winds may also push high-profile vehicles across lanes on exposed bridges and interstates.
Temperatures hold in the upper 30s today, keeping most roadways mainly wet. Still, brief bursts of heavier snow may coat grassy areas and untreated surfaces. After sunset, temperatures fall toward the upper teens, allowing any remaining moisture to refreeze.
Tuesday remains chilly with highs near 33 degrees, though skies gradually brighten through the day. Another weak system could bring a mix of light rain and snow by Wednesday before warmer air spreads north.
By Thursday, Louisville begins to feel a strong early spring push. Sunshine and southerly winds could lift temperatures toward 65 degrees, signaling a rapid warmup across the Ohio Valley.
