PADUCAH, Ky. – A thick, low fog hugs fields and backroads across western Kentucky and southern Illinois this morning, making for slow commutes and hazy headlights along I-24 and the Purchase Parkway. Calm air and cool temperatures near 34°F are helping fog cling to valleys and river corridors, reducing visibility to under a mile in spots.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a Hazardous Weather Outlook remains in effect early today for patchy dense fog. The fog will gradually lift by midmorning, giving way to bright sunshine and an unseasonably mild afternoon. Highs will climb to the low 60s today and approach 70°F by Tuesday under calm southwest breezes.

Midweek looks ideal for outdoor work, late fall cleanup, or early holiday decorating. By Wednesday, highs near 73°F will feel more like late October than November. However, changes begin late Thursday as clouds return and a stronger system develops across the central Plains.

Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected Friday, marking the first sign of a cooler pattern returning for the weekend. Some storms could bring gusty winds or brief downpours, especially west of Paducah and along the Mississippi River corridor. Behind the front, temperatures drop into the upper 50s for Saturday and Sunday.

Residents planning Veterans Day events this weekend should watch updates closely, as lingering showers may briefly disrupt outdoor plans Friday night into early Saturday. For now, drive cautiously through fog and enjoy the mild stretch before fall’s next weather shake-up arrives.
