Low clouds press over the Ohio River this morning, and damp pavement glistens across Paducah as scattered showers drift through western Kentucky. Drivers along I-24 and U.S. 60 encounter brief mist and reduced visibility before midday.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, isolated thunderstorms remain possible today, mainly north of a line from Carbondale, Illinois, to Evansville, Indiana. Rain chances hover near 50% early, then dip slightly before climbing again tonight. Temperatures rise sharply, reaching the mid-70s this afternoon with light south winds gusting at times above 20 mph.

The air turns more humid by Wednesday. Showers become likely, with a 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms developing after noon. Highs push near 78 degrees. By Wednesday night and into Thursday, storm coverage increases again, with rain chances peaking near 80%. Some storms could produce gusty winds, especially late Wednesday into Wednesday night.

Plan for wet commutes and brief downpours through Thursday. Allow extra travel time, especially during heavier bursts of rain. While no widespread flooding is expected now, repeated rainfall may lead to ponding in low spots.

By Friday, highs climb into the lower 80s with only isolated storm chances. That warmth signals a broader March warm spell heading into early next week. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across Kentucky and southern Illinois.

We spring our clocks ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, March 8. Longer daylight and spring warmth are building fast.
