Paducah, Kentucky – Below-freezing wind chill temperatures and scattered snow showers are expected across the Quad State region from tonight through Wednesday morning, potentially affecting early travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, wind chill values are forecast to fall well below freezing across western Kentucky, southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, and southwest Indiana. Early morning wind chills near 0 degrees are expected along the Interstate 64 corridor Monday and Tuesday, with the coldest readings occurring during the pre-dawn hours.
Forecast graphics from the agency show minimum wind chills ranging from the single digits to lower teens across much of the region, with localized colder pockets during the overnight and early morning periods through Wednesday.
In addition to the cold, scattered snow showers are expected to develop late tonight and continue into Saturday, particularly across the southern half of the Quad State. The National Weather Service reports snow probabilities generally between 15% and 30%, with higher chances near the Kentucky–Tennessee border.
While widespread accumulation is not expected, isolated locations could receive a quick dusting, especially on grassy areas and elevated surfaces. Any accumulation is expected to be brief and light. Roads are not expected to become slick, though heavier snow showers could briefly create slushy conditions and reduced visibility.
Temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing from northwest to southeast after midnight, increasing the likelihood of cold-related travel discomfort for early commuters and students during the start of the workweek.
