Paducah, Kentucky – Sweltering heat and a rising risk of severe thunderstorms are creating hazardous conditions across western Kentucky through the weekend. Heat index values could reach up to 105°F today, with isolated storms possible, followed by multiple rounds of potentially severe weather Saturday and Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, peak temperatures will remain in the low to mid-90s through Saturday, with humidity pushing feels-like temperatures well above 100°F. A 40% to 60% chance of thunderstorms is expected Saturday and Sunday, some of which may bring damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall.

Communities across McCracken, Graves, and Marshall counties should remain alert for rapidly changing weather. Outdoor plans may need to shift indoors during the afternoon hours when storm chances increase. Localized flooding and wind damage are possible during stronger storms, especially in low-lying areas.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, stay hydrated, and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. If thunder roars, head indoors.

More storms could develop into early next week, with rain chances continuing through Monday. Heat and storm warnings remain in effect through Sunday evening.
