Kentucky Game Warden Recruit Dies During Training in Barren County

Barren County, KY – Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials are mourning the loss of Game Warden Recruit William Bailey, who died following a medical emergency during training. Bailey, a recent addition to the department, was participating in training exercises in Barren County when the emergency occurred.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources confirmed Bailey’s death in a statement, sharing the deep sorrow felt by his colleagues and fellow recruits. Originally from Alabama, Bailey made his home in Richmond, Kentucky, where he graduated from Eastern Kentucky University. He was also a former player for the university’s Colonels football team.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials request that the community keep Bailey’s family, friends, and colleagues in their thoughts and prayers as they cope with this tragic loss. Though his time with the department was brief, Bailey made a lasting impact, and he will be deeply missed.

The department expressed that Bailey will forever remain a part of the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife family.
