According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, isolated storms are expected to develop after 1 p.m., with lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds possible. Areas along US-60 and I-24 could experience slick roads during the evening commute if storms intensify.
Monday’s high temperature will reach 96°F, with humidity pushing the heat index into hazardous territory. Anyone working or spending time outside should hydrate regularly, wear light clothing, and take breaks indoors. The storms, while scattered, may offer brief relief but could also bring localized flooding or downed limbs.
The region enters an Extreme Heat Watch from Monday afternoon through Wednesday evening, as temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 90s with dangerous humidity levels.
