LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A soggy, breezy weekend is underway across Kentucky as a line of fall thunderstorms moves through the Louisville metro and surrounding counties. Drivers along I-65 and I-64 should prepare for periods of heavy rain, reduced visibility, and gusty winds through Sunday morning. Outdoor events and weekend sports may face brief delays as storms sweep across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, showers and isolated thunderstorms will increase through the early morning hours, with rainfall amounts approaching a half-inch in some areas. Winds may gust as high as 25 to 30 mph as the system passes, followed by cooler, drier air late Sunday. The transition marks the start of a pleasant fall stretch that will extend into much of next week.

By Monday, skies clear completely, and sunshine returns with highs near 66°F — a picture-perfect setup for yard cleanup, fall decorating, or early Halloween planning. Light winds and dry air will make for comfortable outdoor conditions across Jefferson, Bullitt, and Oldham Counties.

Looking ahead, Louisville’s weather stays calm and seasonal through midweek, with temperatures in the low to mid-60s and crisp mornings near 40°F. Another round of scattered light showers may arrive by Thursday, but no major storms or frost risks are expected in the near term.
