Paducah, KY – Kentucky is experiencing dangerous heat this week, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing an Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory. Temperatures are forecasted to reach between 105 and 115 degrees through Thursday, putting residents at significant risk.

According to the NWS Paducah office, high humidity combined with mid to upper 90s temperatures will drive heat indices up to 120 degrees in some areas. Nighttime lows are expected to remain in the mid-70s to low-80s, providing little relief. This extreme heat can cause heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.

Residents are urged to take precautions, including staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and avoiding strenuous activities during peak heat hours. It’s also crucial to check on neighbors and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
