Dover, DE – A Smyrna man is facing a felony DUI charge after Delaware State Police say he was arrested Monday night following a report of a disabled vehicle blocking a roadway in Dover.
According to Delaware State Police, troopers were dispatched at approximately 11:30 p.m. Monday to the area of East Denny’s Road and Fast Landing Road after receiving reports of a vehicle stopped in the roadway. When troopers arrived, they found a Dodge Grand Caravan stopped in the middle of the road, creating a traffic hazard.
Police say the driver, later identified as 62-year-old Bryan Debello of Smyrna, allegedly told troopers he believed he was parked at a boat ramp. Troopers reported observing signs of impairment during their interaction with Debello. Authorities also confirmed his driver’s license was suspended at the time of the stop.
Debello was taken into custody and transported to Troop 9, where police say he continued to display signs of impairment. A computer check of his criminal history allegedly showed multiple prior DUI convictions, making the latest charge a felony under Delaware law.
Debello was charged with:
- Fifth-Offense DUI (Felony)
- Driving While License Suspended or Revoked
- Stopping or Parking a Vehicle in a Roadway
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and later released on a $6,051 unsecured bond, according to court records.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with additional information related to the incident is encouraged to contact Delaware State Police.
