Hartly, DE – A deadly two-vehicle crash in Hartly shut down a section of Hartly Road for several hours Wednesday morning after a Honda and Ford collided, killing one driver and injuring another.

According to Delaware State Police, the crash happened around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, near the intersection of Hartly Road and Judith Road. Investigators say a Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Judith Road and allegedly pulled away from a stop sign into the path of a southbound Ford Focus traveling on Hartly Road. The Ford struck the driver’s side of the Honda.

Troopers confirmed the Honda’s driver, a 77-year-old man from Dover, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending notification of family.

The Ford’s driver, an 18-year-old woman from Hartly, was treated on scene for injuries but declined transport to a hospital.

Hartly Road remained closed for roughly three hours while the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit documented the scene and cleared debris. Troopers are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
