Milwaukee, Wis. – Slow-moving thunderstorms kept much of southern and eastern Wisconsin under a Flood Watch Sunday night, with the threat of flash flooding continuing until 7 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, heavy rainfall has saturated the ground from Sauk County eastward to Lake Michigan, pushing creeks and streams near flood stage. Counties under the watch include Milwaukee, Dane, Fond du Lac, Racine, Kenosha, Waukesha, and 14 others.

The greatest risk remains in areas where multiple rounds of storms have dropped several inches of rain in just hours. Low-lying roads and underpasses could quickly become impassable, and drivers are urged to avoid water-covered pavement. Officials recommend keeping cell phones charged and staying alert for Flash Flood Warnings, which may be issued if conditions worsen.

Storm activity is expected to taper by early Monday, but swollen waterways may remain high into the morning commute. Residents are advised to allow extra travel time and monitor local alerts for potential closures.
