Kenosha County, Wis. – A 26-year-old man was arrested after allegedly fleeing deputies at high speeds on Interstate 94 southbound around midnight, throwing a handgun from his vehicle during the pursuit.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies assisted the Racine County Sheriff’s Office in a high-speed chase that entered Kenosha County shortly after midnight Thursday.

Authorities said deputies located a 2020 Toyota Camry traveling southbound on I-94, allegedly fleeing at dangerous speeds. With assistance from the Pleasant Prairie Police Department, spike strips were deployed, striking the vehicle’s tires. Officials said the driver continued fleeing even after the tires shredded and failed.

Before pulling onto the shoulder of I-94 southbound, the driver allegedly threw a Glock Model 45 handgun out of the vehicle’s window. Deputies later recovered the firearm, according to authorities.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Haidr Alyasiry, was taken into custody and is facing multiple felony charges related to allegedly fleeing law enforcement and other felony offenses. Bond for felony fleeing in Kenosha County carries a $10,000 cash requirement, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff David W. Zoerner stated that fleeing law enforcement is a deliberate and dangerous felony offense and credited coordination with Racine County and Pleasant Prairie police for bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion.

The incident temporarily impacted southbound I-94 traffic, affecting overnight motorists and commercial drivers traveling through the corridor.
