Randall Township, WI – One person is dead following a serious three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon that shut down a major roadway in western Kenosha County.
According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and area fire and rescue crews responded at approximately 4:11 p.m. Thursday to a crash in the 2400 block of County Trunk Highway BD in the Town of Randall.
Investigators say the crash involved a Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, and Porsche Cayenne. Preliminary findings indicate the Honda was traveling southbound when it crossed the centerline and struck the northbound Ford head-on. Moments later, the Porsche—also traveling southbound—was unable to avoid the collision and struck the Honda before leaving the roadway and coming to rest in an east-side ditch.
The driver of the Honda, a 75-year-old man from the City of Kenosha, was trapped inside the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The driver of the Ford Escape was also trapped and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. That individual was extricated and flown by Flight For Life helicopter to a Milwaukee-area hospital. The Porsche driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Investigators believe the crash may have been caused by a medical emergency. Roadway conditions and vehicle speeds do not appear to have been contributing factors.
The Kenosha County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) is leading the investigation. Highway BD remained closed for several hours while crews worked the scene and documented evidence.
The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released.
