Kenosha County, WI – Two people were arrested Friday, December 12, after a major drug and firearms investigation led by the Kenosha Drug Operations Group (KDOG), according to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives executed a search warrant in the 2900 block of 31st Avenue in Kenosha, where 47-year-old Andrew Berg was identified as the alleged operator of a narcotics and firearms distribution ring. Investigators say controlled buys revealed sales of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamine, and GHB—commonly referred to as “liquid G.”

According to Lt. Chase Forster, Berg also allegedly transferred firearms to an individual prohibited from possessing them. His girlfriend, 41-year-old Laura Mercado, was also taken into custody during the raid.

Both suspects were booked into the Kenosha County Jail following their arrests. Prosecutors are referring multiple felony charges, including manufacture and delivery of controlled substances, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession with intent to deliver narcotics, and reckless endangerment.

Mercado faces similar charges, along with two counts of felon in possession of a firearm. Due to a child found at the residence, the Sheriff’s Office Sensitive Crimes Unit is handling that aspect of the investigation.

Federal and state task force members from the DEA, ATF, and North Central HIDTA assisted in the operation, which remains under review for potential federal prosecution. Sheriff David Zoerner praised investigators for their professionalism, adding that the department “will not tolerate individuals who traffic illegal drugs or place firearms into the hands of prohibited persons.”
