Kenosha County, WI – A 65-year-old man was rescued Friday morning after becoming trapped in a grain silo in the Town of Paris, according to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened around 7:45 a.m. on October 3, 2025, at a farm on 317-169th Avenue. Deputies reported the man became stuck in soybeans while inspecting an auger inside the silo.
According to officials, the man managed to call a family member after multiple failed attempts, who then contacted 911. Within minutes, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and specialized rescue crews from across southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois arrived on scene.
Firefighters used specialized rappelling equipment to access the 20-foot-tall silo, which contained about one-third soybeans. Emergency crews constructed a wall around the victim before vacuuming out soybeans and securing him with a harness. He was fully extracted and freed from the silo by 9:45 a.m.
The man was transported to a local hospital with what authorities described as minor injuries. He is expected to recover.
Sheriff David Zoerner thanked the numerous agencies involved for their professionalism, saying the joint effort likely prevented a tragic outcome.
