Yorkville, IL – Residents across Kendall County can safely dispose of unused or expired medications this weekend during the county’s official Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The free event runs Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kendall County Government Campus, located at John Street and Cornell Lane in Yorkville.

According to the Village of Oswego Police Department, the event allows participants to anonymously drop off prescription medications, medical sharps, and diabetic supplies for safe and environmentally friendly disposal. The program aims to reduce the risk of drug misuse and prevent medications from contaminating local waterways.

Organizers emphasize that no questions will be asked, and no identification is required. Accepted items include pills, capsules, ointments, and liquid medications in sealed containers. However, needles, illegal drugs, and pressurized containers will not be accepted.

The event is part of a national initiative supported by local police departments, including Oswego, Plano, and Yorkville Police, as well as the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and the Kendall County Coroner’s Office.
