Topeka, KS – A winter storm warning remains in effect across central and northeast Kansas, with heavy snowfall expected to impact travel through Tuesday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Topeka, the warning is in place from 6 p.m. Monday until midnight Tuesday night, with total snow accumulations between 4 and 9 inches. Affected areas include Topeka, Manhattan, Lawrence, Emporia, and surrounding counties.
Forecasters warn that roads, particularly bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous, creating difficult travel conditions. The storm is expected to affect the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
Drivers are urged to use caution and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. If travel is essential, officials recommend carrying an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water.
