Wichita, KS – A major winter storm is set to impact Kansas this week, with snowfall totals ranging from 4 to 10 inches across central and southern parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued from Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected between US-56 and I-70, where some areas could see locally higher amounts.

The storm will bring hazardous travel conditions, especially during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. Roads may become snow-covered and slick, making travel difficult across cities such as Wichita, Salina, Hutchinson, and McPherson.

Residents are advised to monitor forecasts, prepare emergency kits, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall. Snowplow crews are expected to work around the clock, but road conditions could remain treacherous.

Further updates on snowfall amounts and storm impacts will be available as the system develops.
