Topeka, KS – A dynamic weather day is underway across much of central and eastern Kansas, with strong winds this morning giving way to a freeze and frost threat overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. CDT Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, for areas including Topeka, Manhattan, Lawrence, Emporia, and Concordia, where north winds of 25–30 mph and gusts up to 50–55 mph could make travel difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
As the winds diminish late today, temperatures will tumble under clear skies. A Freeze Watch and Frost Advisory have been issued for late tonight through early Thursday morning, with lows between 31 and 35 degrees expected. These temperatures could damage sensitive vegetation and unprotected plumbing in rural and low-lying areas.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects this morning and cover plants or bring them indoors tonight.
