Wichita, KS – Beneficial rainfall has drenched much of Kansas over the past two days, with totals ranging between 1 to 2 inches in many areas. Southwest Kansas saw some of the heaviest rainfall, with certain locations recording totals nearing 2 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, rainfall totals through 7 a.m. on May 8 show Wichita receiving 2.05 inches, while nearby Iola saw 1.89 inches. Locations like Goessel and Humboldt received 1.84 and 1.65 inches, respectively. The largest rainfall totals were found in the southwestern regions, with Liberal receiving 1.83 inches, and Moundridge coming in with 1.29 inches.

The steady rainfall has provided much-needed moisture to the state’s agricultural areas, though localized flooding remains a concern, particularly in low-lying regions. Authorities have advised motorists to remain cautious of wet roads and potential standing water.

Rainfall is expected to taper off by late Tuesday, but additional advisories could be issued if localized flooding worsens. Stay updated on local conditions through your National Weather Service office.
