WICHITA, Kan. – A gray, drizzly dawn spreads across Sedgwick County this Saturday morning, the streets damp and air heavy with mist. Steady showers and patchy fog will continue through much of the day before tapering from west to east late tonight. The damp start signals the final push of an unsettled fall system moving across Kansas before a drier, cooler pattern builds early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, rain will persist through Saturday afternoon with widespread totals near a quarter inch. Visibility will drop briefly in fog, especially along I-35 and U.S. 54 corridors through midday. Winds remain light from the east at 7 to 10 mph. By Sunday, clouds will linger but conditions dry out for most areas, setting up a calm, cooler stretch to begin the new week.

A few isolated showers may redevelop Monday as a weak disturbance crosses the Plains, but no severe weather or flooding is expected. Temperatures will stay seasonably mild, with highs near 60°F on Monday before dipping to the mid-50s by Tuesday. Clearer skies Tuesday night could bring upper-30s lows—cold enough for a touch of frost in sheltered rural areas.

Travelers should watch for wet pavement today and cooler commutes early next week. After this weekend’s clouds clear, Kansas enjoys several bright, breezy days—ideal for Halloween decorating or late-season yardwork.

A chilly November looms just beyond the horizon.
