Wichita, KS – The National Weather Service has forecasted cooler than average temperatures and periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms this weekend across Central, South-Central, and Southeast Kansas. While severe weather is not anticipated, residents should prepare for scattered hit-or-miss storms.

According to the US National Weather Service in Wichita, the forecast indicates a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms west of I-135 on Friday morning, with high temperatures ranging from 85 to 91 degrees. The likelihood of storms increases significantly to 70% on Friday night, especially in Central Kansas, with lows between 63 to 67 degrees.

Saturday’s forecast includes a 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms with highs between 79 and 84 degrees. Saturday night continues the trend with a 60% chance of storms and lows from 62 to 67 degrees. The stormy weather persists into Sunday, with a 40% chance of thunderstorms and cooler highs between 76 and 82 degrees.

Throughout today, isolated thunderstorms are possible, particularly in the morning west of I-135. Daytime highs are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s across the region, with tonight’s lows dropping to the low to mid-60s. The temperatures will remain relatively pleasant but below average.
