Wichita, KS – Kansas wakes to crisp, clear air this Sunday morning, but the calm won’t last long. A stretch of warm, steady sunshine is on tap through midweek before a late-week pattern brings cooler air and possible thunderstorms to the Wichita area.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, highs will climb near 76°F Monday under bright skies. Winds from the south could gust up to 28 mph, pulling warmer air into Sedgwick County and along I-135. By Tuesday, temperatures stay mild — in the upper 60s — with light winds and comfortable humidity. It’s prime weather for outdoor work, fall yard cleanup, or early Halloween decorating.

Change begins Wednesday night. Models hint at the first measurable rainfall in over a week, with a 20–40% chance of showers developing by Thursday. Some storms could produce gusty winds or brief downpours, mainly south and east of Wichita. Travelers on I-35 toward Oklahoma should watch for wet pavement and reduced visibility during the Thursday commute.

Behind the front, temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 40s by Friday morning. Friday and Saturday may stay partly cloudy with occasional showers — a preview of Kansas’ shift toward cooler, early-season air.

For now, residents can enjoy two more sun-filled days before the state’s first brush with late-October rain moves through.
