Wichita, KS – Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas are in for a stretch of mild, dry weather, with daytime highs in the 70s expected to persist through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, conditions will remain mostly sunny throughout the region, with highs ranging from 72 to 83 degrees and overnight lows dipping into the upper 30s to upper 60s. The mild pattern began Wednesday and is projected to continue through April 12.

Thursday and Saturday are expected to be breezy, which may increase fire danger in rural areas due to low humidity and dry grasses. Winds could gust up to 25 mph. Friday will bring calmer conditions with slightly cooler temperatures in the upper 60s.

Residents in Wichita, Hutchinson, El Dorado, and surrounding areas should expect mostly clear skies, minimal precipitation chances, and increased outdoor activity potential. Drivers should still be cautious of wind-blown debris, especially in open areas.

Officials recommend checking local burn bans and avoiding open flames during breezy periods. This stretch of mild weather contrasts with earlier spring cold snaps and offers a reprieve before the region’s typically stormier late-April conditions.

Temperatures are expected to trend upward heading into next week, with continued dry weather likely into Sunday.
