Dodge City, KS – Residents across southwest and central Kansas should prepare for changing weather conditions heading into the weekend, as rain and thunderstorm chances rise beginning Thursday night and continue through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Dodge City.

The forecast shows mostly clear and cool conditions Wednesday night, with lows ranging from 36 to 46 degrees and light east winds between 5–10 mph. However, a shift begins Thursday as daytime highs climb into the upper 60s and low 70s under mostly sunny skies.

According to the NWS, rain chances increase to between 40–90% across the region by Thursday night, particularly for south-central Kansas, where scattered thunderstorms are possible. Temperatures overnight will hold between 43 and 54 degrees.

By Friday into Saturday, forecasters expect the main wave of rainfall and storms to move through, with a 60–90% chance of precipitation in southwest Kansas and a 30–50% chance further north. Daytime highs are forecast in the mid-50s to mid-60s, accompanied by southeast winds and cloudier conditions.

Drivers are urged to watch for slick roads during periods of heavier rain, and outdoor plans may need adjustments due to potential thunderstorm activity.
