Wichita, KS – A major snowstorm blanketed central Kansas on Tuesday, bringing over 10 inches of snow in some areas and disrupting travel.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Wichita, Sterling recorded the highest snowfall at 10.5 inches, followed by 9 inches in Humboldt and 8.8 inches in Great Bend. Wichita saw accumulations between 6 and 7 inches, while surrounding cities, including Hutchinson and Valley Center, received similar amounts.
The heavy snowfall caused hazardous road conditions, leading to delays and cancellations across the region. Authorities urge residents to exercise caution while traveling and to check for weather-related closures.
More snow is not expected in the immediate forecast, but cold temperatures may lead to lingering icy conditions. Officials advise keeping an eye on updates from the NWS and local emergency services.
