Wichita, Kansas – A midweek cooldown will bring rain showers back to Kansas before a warmer and more active pattern develops with thunderstorms by the end of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, Wednesday will turn cooler with highs ranging from the upper 40s in central Kansas to the upper 60s in the southeast. Cities including Wichita, Hutchinson, Salina, and Emporia can expect periods of light rain throughout the day.

Rain chances continue into Thursday, with scattered showers and highs between 60 and 68°F across much of the region. Roads such as I-35 and U.S. 54 could see wet conditions during morning and afternoon travel.

By Friday, warmer air surges back into the state, pushing highs into the mid-70s to near 80°F. Storm chances increase again, with scattered thunderstorms possible along with gusty winds that could impact travel, especially in open areas.

Residents should prepare for changing conditions throughout the week, including wet roads midweek and breezy, storm-prone weather by Friday. Additional updates are expected as storm timing and strength become clearer.
