Wichita, KS – Showers are expected to fade across Kansas today before sunshine and mild conditions take over through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita.

Forecasters said a few lingering showers will diminish from west to east on Wednesday, leaving behind below-normal temperatures. Highs today are expected to range from 70 to 75 degrees with lows dipping into the mid-50s overnight.

By Thursday, sunny skies will return with highs between 76 and 80 degrees and lows in the low 50s. Friday through Sunday is expected to remain mostly sunny, with daytime highs climbing into the low to mid-80s across central, south-central, and southeast Kansas. Overnight lows will gradually rise into the upper 50s and low 60s heading into the weekend.

The NWS said the region should see “mostly sunny and mild conditions” persist into early next week, with no major weather systems on the horizon. This comes as many areas of Kansas experienced a cooler-than-average September, giving way to one of the mildest late-September stretches in recent years.

Residents planning outdoor activities this weekend can expect dry skies and comfortable warmth, though mornings will still bring cooler air in the 50s.
