Dodge City, Kansas – Isolated severe storms could impact parts of southwest Kansas late Monday, bringing strong winds and hail threats to both eastern and western counties through midnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, a slight risk exists for areas along and east of U.S. 281, including Great Bend, Pratt, and Medicine Lodge, where dry line storms may ignite after 4 p.m. CDT. A marginal risk extends westward to cities like Dodge City and Garden City, where high-based storms could also pack hail and gusty winds.
Storms in the eastern zone may start small before expanding and tracking eastward. Meanwhile, western zones may see scattered activity that still poses hazards to travelers and residents. Winds over 60 mph and hail up to quarter size are possible in both regions.
Drivers should stay alert for sudden changes in weather, especially after sunset. Charge devices, secure outdoor items, and monitor NOAA weather radio or local alerts.
Severe weather risks are expected to end by midnight, but additional updates could be issued if storms intensify.
