Wichita, KS – Thick fog has settled across south-central Kansas this morning, softening the skyline and slowing early traffic along I-135 and nearby rural routes. Visibility is dropping quickly across portions of Sedgwick, Butler, and Harvey counties as a dense fog layer forms under calm winds and cold air.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, fog will remain dense through mid-morning before clearing as temperatures rise into the low 50s. Some slick spots are possible on bridges and overpasses, where freezing condensation may create light frost before the sun breaks through. Motorists should keep low beams on and increase following distance during early travel.

Once the fog lifts, the weekend ahead looks dry and cool, with daytime highs near 50°F and lows dipping into the 20s. Clear skies will dominate into Monday, but calm, humid nights could allow patchy fog to return briefly before a warm-up midweek.

By Tuesday, winds will shift south, bringing a noticeable temperature rebound — highs near 62°F and sunny skies. Longer-range models show mild, dry weather continuing across Kansas into the second week of December, providing a short break before more active winter systems develop farther north across the Plains and Midwest.
