Wichita, KS – Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across southeast Kansas this afternoon, potentially bringing damaging winds, heavy rain, and small hail. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita has issued a weather outlook indicating a risk of severe storms, with wind speeds possibly reaching 60-70 mph. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts as conditions may worsen.

According to the NWS, storm chances will persist through Friday, with the highest risk centered in southeast Kansas. Heat indices could reach around 105 degrees, particularly in southern and southeast regions, adding to the discomfort. Temperatures will remain in the 90s today and tomorrow, with a slight drop expected over the weekend.

Friday’s forecast indicates a 20-30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly affecting central Kansas. The weekend is expected to see a decrease in storm activity, with temperatures ranging from the low 90s to mid-90s. By Sunday, temperatures are predicted to drop slightly, offering some relief from the heat.
