According to the NWS, strong thunderstorms could bring quarter-sized hail, wind gusts up to 60 mph, and heavy rainfall to the area. Locations including Wichita, Hutchinson, Emporia, and Winfield are within the elevated risk zone.

The storms are expected to move through during peak travel and commute times, which may lead to localized flooding and minor wind-related damage. The risk level for today is ranked as Level 1 (Marginal), indicating isolated severe storm potential that could still be hazardous in some areas.

Residents are advised to monitor local weather alerts closely and ensure they have multiple methods to receive warnings, including NOAA weather radios, smartphone alerts, and local news channels.
