Wichita, Kansas – Southeast Kansas faces a multi-day weather threat beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, as rounds of heavy rain and severe storms roll through the region, increasing the risk of flooding and large hail through Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, a Flood Watch is in effect for far southeastern counties, including Coffeyville and Chanute, where rainfall totals could reach 4 to 6 inches. The first wave of storms is expected to develop tonight between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., with the most intense activity centered in southern Kansas.

Cities including Winfield, Eureka, and Parsons are in the zone of concern, while Hutchinson, Emporia, and Salina could see 2–4 inches of rain through Monday. The main threats are flooded roads, large hail, and isolated high wind gusts, especially overnight when warnings may be harder to detect.

Residents are urged to prepare now by charging phones, avoiding low-water crossings, and having multiple ways to receive alerts. Travel after dark is discouraged in flood-prone areas.

Rain and storm chances will persist into Monday, with additional warnings possible depending on storm intensity and track. Stay weather-aware and monitor local emergency alerts for the latest information.
