Dodge City, Kansas – Residents across western Kansas should brace for severe weather late Saturday into early Sunday, as isolated to scattered thunderstorms move into the region. Damaging winds will be the biggest concern, but hail and pockets of heavy rainfall are also possible, especially between 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, storms developing in eastern Colorado will sweep eastward into western Kansas this evening, peaking overnight. While the threat is scattered, any storm that forms could bring wind gusts over 60 mph, minor hail, and quick downpours, particularly west of US-283 and along the Colorado border.

Cities at greatest risk include Dodge City, Garden City, Scott City, and Liberal, where quick changes in weather may disrupt travel and outdoor plans. Local officials urge residents to keep mobile devices charged and have multiple ways to receive warnings, as some storms could briefly intensify before weakening toward morning. Sheltering indoors remains the safest option as storms approach.

Hazardous weather is expected to diminish by sunrise Sunday, but more updates or additional alerts are possible if storms linger or redevelop. Stay weather aware and be ready to adjust plans if warnings are issued overnight.
