Wichita, Kan. – Thunderstorms could roll into south-central Kansas by Monday night, bringing a 50% chance of rain and lightning across the Wichita area through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, the unsettled weather pattern begins late Monday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after sunset. The rain threat continues into Tuesday and Wednesday with on-and-off precipitation and slightly cooler highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Locally, Sedgwick County and surrounding areas may see reduced visibility and slick roads during morning commutes. Tuesday and Wednesday both carry a 30–40% storm chance, though no severe weather is currently expected.

Drivers should plan for changing road conditions, especially Monday night and Tuesday morning. Keep phones charged and avoid parking near low-lying flood-prone areas. Although Monday’s high will reach a warm 85°F, cooler air arrives midweek with highs dipping into the 70s by Thursday.

More updates are expected as confidence increases in storm timing and intensity. Residents should stay tuned for any advisories or warnings issued Monday afternoon.
