Wichita, KS – Kansas residents should prepare for severe weather as widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect areas along and west of I-135 through 5:30 a.m. The National Weather Service in Wichita issued a warning about gusty winds reaching up to 45 mph, along with the potential for pea-sized hail and brief heavy downpours.

According to the National Weather Service, the storms are likely to cause hazardous conditions overnight. Residents are advised to seek shelter indoors if storms or threatening weather approaches. The affected areas include Concordia, Salina, Great Bend, Hutchinson, and Medicine Lodge.

Today’s high is expected to reach 97°F, with isolated thunderstorms likely. The weather pattern continues to be volatile, with temperatures soaring into the triple digits for the coming week. Monday and Tuesday will see highs of 103°F, with continued chances of thunderstorms.

By Wednesday, the temperature is expected to remain high at 102°F, but the storm activity will decrease. Thursday and Friday will bring a slight relief from the storms, with sunny skies and temperatures of 100°F and 99°F, respectively.
