Wichita, KS – Severe weather is expected across central and southern Plains today, with intense thunderstorms, hail, and tornado risks. Residents of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas should prepare for a potentially dangerous evening.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms, including supercells, are possible across central Kansas, southward through central Oklahoma. Some isolated storms may develop as far south as north and central Texas by tonight. Large hail, potentially over 2 inches in diameter, is a primary risk, and tornadoes, including a few strong ones, may form. Additionally, severe wind gusts are expected, particularly in the hardest-hit areas.

Uncertainty remains for storm coverage in Oklahoma and Texas, particularly late afternoon into early evening. However, officials caution that higher-end severe weather hazards are possible. Storm predictions for the region may evolve, and weather updates will be critical. As of now, areas like Wichita, Enid, and Norman are among the most at risk.

Residents in these areas should continue monitoring forecasts and be ready to take action if watches or warnings are issued.
