Goodland, KS – A Frost Advisory remains in effect tonight for northwest Kansas and portions of southwest Nebraska, where temperatures are expected to dip into the low 30s by early Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Goodland.
The advisory runs from 10 p.m. CDT (9 p.m. MDT) Monday through 11 a.m. CDT (10 a.m. MDT) Tuesday, covering Cheyenne, Rawlins, Sherman, Thomas, Sheridan, and Gove counties in Kansas, and Dundy and Hitchcock counties in Nebraska.
Forecasters say lows near 33°F will lead to widespread frost formation, and if winds decrease overnight, temperatures could briefly fall below freezing in some areas.
The NWS warns that frost could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation. Residents are urged to cover plants, move potted flowers indoors, and protect outdoor plumbing before temperatures drop.
Cities affected include Goodland, Colby, Atwood, Hoxie, Quinter, and Benkelman. Frost is expected to dissipate by mid-morning Tuesday as temperatures rebound into the 50s.
