MISSOURI – A warm fall stretch will turn stormy across the Kansas City metro late Friday, as a cold front brings thunderstorms and gusty winds before clearing skies return for the second half of the weekend. The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill warns that strong storms with 50–60 mph winds and small hail are possible Friday evening along the I-70 and I-35 corridors.

Residents across western Missouri and eastern Kansas should prepare for brief downpours and possible travel delays through Friday night. Rain chances reach 60%, tapering off by early Saturday. Outdoor plans Friday afternoon and evening should include an umbrella and a close eye on changing skies.

Behind the front, temperatures cool significantly. Saturday will still reach the upper 70s, but humidity drops sharply as sunshine breaks through by afternoon. Winds from the northwest may gust up to 25 mph, keeping it breezy but comfortable.

Sunday marks a perfect fall reset — sunny, crisp, and calm with highs near 65°F. Expect blue skies across the metro, ideal for pumpkin patches, yard work, or fall festivals. The pleasant weather continues into early next week, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 50s, offering a much-needed breather after the late-week storms.

After a warm and stormy Friday, fall’s familiar chill and clear skies will reclaim Kansas City just in time for Sunday.
