Kansas City, Missouri – Scattered thunderstorms could pop up along the Kansas-Missouri state line by Wednesday evening, bringing a chance for small hail and brief downpours near the Kansas City metro.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, isolated to scattered storms are expected mainly along the KS-MO border after 4 p.m. Wednesday. While the severe threat is low, areas west and south of the metro may see slightly more favorable conditions for storm development.

Temperatures will stay mild through the rest of the week, with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s and overnight lows dipping into the 40s. Cities including St. Joseph, Chillicothe, and Butler will remain cool and breezy, offering a break from early spring warmth.

Looking ahead, a broader area of showers and storms could develop Friday through the weekend, especially southwest of the region. The NWS notes that while rainfall could lead to minor flooding, the gradual nature of precipitation may reduce major impacts.

Storms this evening are expected to be brief, but residents along the state line should monitor local updates. Additional advisories may be issued as conditions evolve later this week.
