Wichita, Kan. – Scattered thunderstorms will continue across central and south-central Kansas through Tuesday evening, bringing brief heavy rain and lightning risks from the afternoon into the night.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, storms will taper off Wednesday and Thursday during the day, offering a brief break in activity. But a new round of late-day storms is expected to arrive Thursday evening, continuing off-and-on through the weekend. High temperatures will remain elevated, ranging from 88°F to 99°F, with Thursday shaping up to be the hottest and breeziest day of the week.

Cities including Wichita, Hutchinson, and Winfield could see storm activity today and Tuesday, especially during the evening commute hours. Outdoor plans should be monitored closely, and residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items ahead of Thursday’s gusty winds.

With daily highs in the upper 80s and mid-90s, heat safety remains a concern. Residents should stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activities in peak heat, and monitor local alerts as storms return Thursday night.
