Kansas City, MO – Gusty winds and unseasonably warm temperatures are sweeping across Missouri on Sunday, prompting a Wind Advisory for areas south of the Kansas City Metro until 4 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, wind gusts could exceed 40 mph in southern portions of the metro area, where the advisory remains active through the afternoon. Elsewhere in Missouri, gusts up to 30 mph are expected, with sustained breezes from the south to southwest.
Temperatures across the region are forecast to climb into the low to mid-80s, with the warmest readings likely south and southwest of Kansas City. These highs are well above the seasonal average and may impact sensitive individuals and outdoor activities.
Motorists, especially those driving high-profile vehicles, are urged to use caution in open areas due to sudden strong gusts. Residents should also secure loose outdoor items to prevent wind damage.
While skies are expected to stay mostly dry during the day, the weather service notes a slight (20% or less) chance for light showers overnight into early Monday across northern Missouri.
This wind and warmth pattern marks a notable contrast to the typically milder April conditions across the region.
