Kansas City, Mo. – Showers and a few thunderstorms moved into northwest Missouri early Tuesday, bringing a quick half-inch of rain in spots before shifting south by afternoon. While the morning activity included some brief downpours and small hail in far northwest Missouri, forecasters say no severe weather is expected.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, precipitation will taper off through midday, with the best chances focused north of Interstate 70. By late afternoon, dry skies will return and set the stage for a warming trend that lasts through the weekend.

Temperatures, which started the week in the 70s, will climb steadily into the upper 80s and low 90s by Thursday, with some communities such as Boonville and Sedalia pushing into the mid-90s by Saturday. Overnight lows will remain mild, hovering in the mid-60s to lower 70s, keeping conditions warm even after sunset.

Drivers should be alert for slick roads in the morning hours before drier conditions dominate. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat later this week.

Hot weather will hold into early next week, with above-normal highs likely through Monday. Additional advisories could be issued if heat indexes climb further.
