Kansas City, MO – Slick roads and reduced visibility will continue across northern Missouri through late Tuesday morning as light snow lingers, while a sharp warm-up develops farther south by afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, light snow will persist north of Highway 36 through 1 p.m., with minor accumulations up to 1 inch possible, especially on elevated and untreated surfaces. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for far northern counties during this time.
Cities including St. Joseph, Maryville, and Chillicothe will see the greatest impacts, where road conditions may remain slick through the midday hours. Drivers along U.S. 36 and nearby rural routes should allow extra time and watch for patchy accumulation.
Farther south, including Kansas City, temperatures will rise into the upper 40s to low 50s, with areas south of the Missouri River pushing into the 60s by late afternoon as a warm front lifts north. This creates a sharp temperature contrast across the state within a few hours.
Looking ahead, rain chances increase by Wednesday night and continue through the weekend, with widespread precipitation likely. Residents should stay alert for changing conditions as warmer, wetter weather returns.
