Kansas City, Mo. – Warm, sticky conditions will dominate much of Missouri on Sunday, but attention is already turning to a stronger storm system that could disrupt travel and utilities late Tuesday into Tuesday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, a cold front sweeping through the region Tuesday evening will bring the potential for severe storms, especially across northern and western Missouri. Threats include large hail, damaging winds, and localized flooding. Areas from St. Joseph to Kirksville and into the Kansas City metro are under a Level 2 (Slight Risk) for severe weather Tuesday, with Jefferson City and areas farther south under a marginal threat.
Highs on Sunday will climb into the mid- to upper 80s, with overnight lows staying in the 60s. While only isolated storms are possible today, conditions will remain muggy and unstable, helping fuel the incoming system midweek. Residents are urged to monitor alerts, secure loose outdoor items, and avoid low-lying roads during potential downpours.
Storms are expected to arrive after sunset Tuesday and linger into early Wednesday. Additional watches or warnings may be issued as models evolve.
