Kansas City, MO – Cold mornings are on the way for northern Missouri, where the National Weather Service in Kansas City says areas of frost are likely Wednesday and Thursday mornings, with temperatures dipping into the mid to upper 30s.
According to the NWS, the most favorable areas for frost formation will be north of Highway 36 and west of Interstate 35, where skies will be clearer and winds lighter overnight. Residents in these regions are urged to protect sensitive vegetation, including garden plants and crops, as surface frost may form around dawn both mornings.
The agency also noted that showers and storms could return late Thursday night into Friday, marking a shift toward a wetter pattern heading into the weekend. However, no severe weather is expected at this time.
With fall fire season and fluctuating temperatures ongoing across the Midwest, meteorologists recommend monitoring local forecasts closely this week and covering or moving delicate plants indoors to avoid damage.
